WSL Services Ltd carries out cladding remediation programmes — removing non-compliant cladding systems and replacing them with fire-safe alternatives.
The Challenge
Thousands of buildings across the UK still have non-compliant cladding systems containing aluminium composite material (ACM) or high-pressure laminate (HPL) with combustible cores. Building owners have a legal duty to remediate these systems, but the complexity and cost of remediation projects requires experienced specialist contractors.
Who We Work With
- Freeholders and building owners subject to cladding remediation obligations
- Housing associations with affected residential stock
- Developers remediating legacy buildings
- Building safety managers under the Building Safety Act 2022
- Managing agents appointed to oversee remediation programmes
Standards & Compliance
Remediation works comply with MHCLG guidance on cladding remediation, Building Regulations Approved Document B (volume 2), and the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022. We work alongside appointed building safety managers and EWS1 assessors.
Our Process
Intrusive Survey
We carry out an intrusive survey to identify all cladding materials, insulation, and cavity barriers present in the facade.
Remediation Design
Working with a fire engineer and EWS1 assessor, we develop a remediation design that achieves the required fire performance.
Interim Measures
Where required, we implement interim safety measures (waking watches, enhanced alarms) while remediation is planned.
Removal
Non-compliant cladding is removed safely, with waste classified and disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations.
Replacement & Certification
Compliant replacement cladding is installed and EWS1 certification obtained on completion.
